Abstract

The invention relates to an ultrasonic head comprising a sound head (1) and a container (5) filled with a liquid (6) directly arranged on the sound head in the direction of the object to be measured, the liquid being such that the speed of sound therein is independent of temperature. Preferably the container is sealed off by a slanting film on the side facing the sound head. The ultrasonic head is particularly suitable for measuring pipe diameters independently of temperature. The liquid (6) may be a water/ethyl alcohol or water/ethylene glycol mixture. <IMAGE>
