Abstract

A gas meter casing 30 of magnetic material has a magnetic coupling 38, 41 for transferring drive from the working parts (not shown) to an index mechanism 45 outside the casing. A disc 31 of non-magnetic material is welded or otherwise secured into the casing to allow the magnetic coupling to work. A bearing member 33 is inserted into the centre of the disc to support one end of a shaft 34 carrying magnet 38, while magnet 41 is mounted on the index mechanism which in turn is located on mounting blocks 47 welded to the casing. The bearing member 33 has a chamfered entry guiding the end of the shaft into the bearing area. <IMAGE>
