Abstract

A hydrodynamic torque converter having a blade system comprising impeller blades 14, turbine blades 30 and reactor blades 16 which affords improved torque and efficiency characteristics when compared with known converter blade systems. The blade of the blade system are generally radially disposed within the working chamber in accordance with parameters set out in a table in the specification. The torque converters in accordance with the invention are particularly suitable for use in transmissions for diggers and earth moving equipment. <IMAGE>
