Abstract

A tumbler lock has a plurality of tumblers 2 mounted in a frame member moveable between a locked position and an unlocked position, by a key of appropriate configuration engaging with cooperating surfaces provided on the tumblers. The lock has as locating means openings in the frame member 3, for holding the tumblers in a predetermined spaced apart relationship within the lock. A key 1 for use with such a lock has stepped surface portions located at intervals along the length of the key and interconnected by bevelled riser portions, the tumbler engaging portions of the key being of constant width 'a' which is equal to the length of the apertures in the tumblers 2. The lock rotor frame 3 is formed by pressing a plate and has formations 3-A which enclose a pin 4-1 which limits the movement of tumblers 2 by engaging shoulders thereon. <IMAGE>
