Abstract

A vehicle suspension unit comprises an outer cylinder (1) and an inner cylinder (2) in which a damping piston works. To permit less material to be used and reduce the weight of the unit for a given strength, the outer cylinder (1) has a plurality of ribs (5) extending over a substantial part of its length, the ends of the outer cylinder (1) being substantially circular in cross-section to facilitate sealing of the ends. <IMAGE>
