Abstract

To absorb axial movement and pressure impulses a pipe coupling comprises a spigot end 2 and socket end 11 on pipe 1 which telescopically engage with a seal 3 affording longitudinal movement. Parts 6 communicate with an annular chamber 7 defined by opposed pistons 8 and 9 urged together by springs 12. The pistons absorb pressure impulses occurring in the pipe without accompanying axial movement. <IMAGE>
