Abstract

This invention provides novel prostanoic acids and congeners of the formula: <IMAGE> wherein Q is a divalent cyclopentyl moiety selected from: <IMAGE> [where R3 is hydroxy or hydrogen]; W is <IMAGE> [where R1 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl and R15 is C1-C4 alkyl, di-C1-C4 alkylamino, phenyl, or phenyl substituted with one or more substituents selected from C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkylthio, C1-C4 alkoxy, F and Cl,]; R2 is C3-C7 alkyl; X is <IMAGE> [where R5 is 1-propynyl, ethynyl or trimethylsilylethynyl]; and Z is a divalent moiety of the formulae: -(CH2)6-, <IMAGE> -(CH2)4-S-CH2-, or -(CH2(4-O-CH2; (with the proviso that when W is -CH2OH, then Z cannot be -(CH2)4-S-CH2 or -(CH2)4-O-CH2, Q cannot be <IMAGE> and R3 must be hydroxy); the optically active enantiomers thereof; racemic mixture thereof; the mirror image thereof; and when R1 is hydrogen, the pharmacological acceptable salts thereof.
