Abstract

A rearing unit for farm animals formed of a closed body having cages 26 mounted along the sides thereof in which the animals are disposed and constrained, air inlets formed in the roof of the body along the centre line thereof and air outlets 54 formed in the floor of the unit at the sides thereof connected to an air extraction fan or fans 58 so that air flows through the unit from the centre of the body towards the sides thereof and when the animals are constrained in the cages so that they face the centre line of the body, the airflow in the unit is directed from the nose to the tail of the animal. <IMAGE>
