Abstract

A boot assembly which prevents ingress of dirt or fluid between two relatively movable members, e.g. as used in hydraulic actuators for brakes. Conventionally, flexible materials such as rubber provide the seal between the members, but these materials are susceptible to damage from cuts, scorching and chemical attack. To overcome this, the boot assembly comprises at least two relatively slidable, telescopic sleeves 1 made from a semi-rigid material such as polypropylene, and the sleeves 1 are provided with lips 2, 3, which engage sealingly with another sleeve 1. The sleeves 1 have further lips 13 preventing their disengagement. The sleeves may have interengaging longitudinal grooves and ridges to prevent their relative rotation. <IMAGE>
