Abstract

An exhaust silencer has a passage extending between inlet and outlet openings in a body, the inlet is connectible to the exhaust to be silenced. From the inlet to the outlet the passage has a first divergence 14 followed by a transverse layer of filter material 22, followed by a second divergence 17 and optionally a second transverse layer 23 of filter material. <IMAGE>
