Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the waste gas purifying function by providing a catalyst case capable of eliminating CO and HC in a single muffler installed on a hood of a vehicle such as a construction machine or the like and a filter case capable of eliminating carbon and the like. CONSTITUTION:The muffler installed on the vehicle hood is provided with a main case body 6 comprising a lower case 12 having an inlet part 2 and a upper case 10 having an outlet part 4 hinged 14 to the lower case 12. The lower case 12 has a substantially rectangular depression 20 formed at its bottom center, and a catalyst case 28 is inserted into the depression 20 in a freely attachable and detachable manner. On the other hand, the upper case 10 is provided with a filter case 44 extending over the entire part of the inner surface, and this case 44 is provided with parallel porous plates 46 and 48 separated vertically. The filter material is held between these porous plates 46 and 48 in an exchangeable manner. Therefore, the lower porous plate 48 is hinged 50 to the upper case 10 at its one end.
