Abstract

A bolt 4 is moved upwards by rotation of a key 3 so that a rod 7 holds a ball 10 clear of a valve seat to allow return of hydraulic fluid from vehicle brake cylinders during brake release. The bolt also raises electrical contact 14 to bridge two terminals 15 through which current passes to the ignition coil when the ignition is switched on in the normal way. Rotation of the key 3 lowers the bolt 4 so that the contact 14 is moved away from terminals 15 and interrupts the current path to the coil and the spindle 7 allows the ball 10 to block the fluid return so that the brakes are kept locked on after brake application to prevent driving of the vehicle should a thief by-pass the terminals 15. <IMAGE>
