Magnets; electric conductors.-Telephone spool heads. as described in Specification 199,343, [Class 40 (iv), Telephones &c.] have soldering terminals attached by tools which cut them from metal strips and deform them. The blank head 11, Fig. 3, has slots 11<2> for the terminals and a slot 11<1>, which is engaged by a projection 7<1>, Figs. 1, of a yielding bottom die 7 on which the blank is placed. Strips 14 are advanced by hand through friction ratchets 15, which prevent retrograde movement, and guides 12 into the slots 11<2>. The die 7 has projections 7<3>, Fig. 5, shaped to engage the slots and an upper die 17, inserted in a shank 18, Fig. 1, carried by a press head and having similar projections 17<1>, is brought down to cut off and flatten the ends of the strips thus securing them to the head 11. The die 7 is returned to its normal position, Fig. 1, by a rubber buffer 10 or a spring.
