Abstract

Armour plating consists totally or partially of chilled cast iron material, and may be of a single-layered construction or may consist of a number of layers. The iron may include inserts of tungsten carbide. In one embodiment the object consists of a tenacious underbody and an overbody of chilled cast iron material thereon. Numerous types of armour construction are described and illustrated.
