Abstract

The invention provides a lightweight shoe sole having a simulated crepe appearance. The sole is formed with an interior 10 of a polyurethane- compatible foamed material (preferably a foamed polyurethane) and an exterior 11 of a polyester of polyether polyurethane of a type which in a cured but unfoamed state has the desired crepe-like nature. In a preferred embodiment the shoe sole is prepared by placing within a shoe sole mould a shaped insert 10 of polyurethane foam, and filling the space around that insert with a non-foaming polyurethane composition which is then cured to give the desired unfoamed, crepe-like exterior to the shoe sole. Alternatively the exterior 11 may be preformed in cured or partially cured state and foaming composition moulded therein. <IMAGE>
