Abstract
For the asymmetrical hydrogenation of prochiral ethylenically unsaturated compounds, a catalyst is proposed which is a transition metal cationic complex immobilized in or on a clay-like mineral, for example hectorite bentonite and haloysite. The transition metal of the cationic complex is preferably rhodium.
