Abstract

The cooperating contacts 9, 11 of a temperature or pressure responsive switching device having a snap switch 5 are cleaned prior to disengagement by sliding relative to each other. The snap switch 5 includes a pivotally mounted actuating lever 19, a contact spring 12 carrying a contact rivet 11 and a curved tongue 13. The curved tongue 13 is adapted to be lowered by the actuating lever 19 relative to the contact spring 12 into a first stable position, and to be raised into a second position, the contact rivet 11 being pressed against a fixed contact 9, 10 at least in one position. In order to clean the fixed contact 9, 10, on actuation of the snap switch 5 the contact rivet 11 pressed on the fixed contact 9 is displaced by the lever 19 parallel to the contact face before leaving the fixed contact 9 to commence a switching movement. <IMAGE>
