Abstract

Temperature sensing devices operating at high temperature include a temperature-dependent resistor comprising an alumina substrate carrying an electrically conducting path comprising a vitreous phase resistant to chemical reduction and loaded with electrically conducting particles. The vitreous phase may be alumino or alumino-boro-silicate glass containing Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba or Zn oxide, and the conductive particles may be Au, Ag, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ir, Pt, Fe, Co, Ni, or Cu. The resistance material may be screen printed on a flat or cylindrical former and protected by a glass coating. The element may be sealed in a metal container.
