Abstract
A superalloy article having improved oxidation and wear resistance at elevated temperatures has a protective coating which is a composite layer comprising an MCrAlY-type coating alloy matrix having chromium carbide particles dispersed therein. The composite layer is especially useful as a protective coating on a gas turbine blade tip shroud to provide increased service life.
