Abstract

A variable camber wing has a tiltable leading edge region and a tiltable trailing edge region with a fixed region in between, tilting of the leading and trailing edge regions being effected by powered hinges 16 lying along generally spanwise axes, there being flexible but inextensible surface panels 9 providing a continuous surface between both the leading edge region and the fixed region and the trailing edge region and the fixed region. Chordwise arms 14 are carried by the powered hinges for transmitting the tilting movements to the leading and trailing edge regions. The connections between the arms and the leading and trailing edge regions are sliding joints 17, 18, 19. <IMAGE>
