Abstract

Production of a magnetically and visibly detectable two-layer structure by coating a first layer 21 including a binder with a visibly distinct magnetic material in a dispersion 23 comprising a partial solvent for the binder and applying a magnetic field in selected areas to cause the magnetic material to migrate into the first layer, as shown at 232. The structure is particularly useful for security documents, and can be transferred from an initial support 30 to a document, e.g. by nor blocking. <IMAGE>
