Abstract
Hollow members sealed off at one end are made by extruding solid material 5 against a dolly 4 to shape the base of the hollow member, the material being extruded backwardly relative to the direction of advance of a mandrel 1, and then the walls 7 of the hollow member are extruded in the forward direction by further advance of the mandrel and without resistance from the dolly. The invention also relates to apparatus for performing this manufacture. <IMAGE>
