Abstract

In a method of entraining fine particulate material for feeding purposes, an admixture of hard discrete matter e.g. milling beads and softer particulate material e.g. dust is fed into a vessel (1) through inlet (8) to establish a bed (22) supported by plate (2). The vessel (1) is vibrated e.g. at a frequency of between 40 and 60 Hz by a vibrator (18) via a spring (20). In so doing, agglomerated particles are broken down by the beads which are of greater hardness and the resulting fine material is entrained in a gas introduced at (6) to the plenum (4). The gas carrying the particles leaves the vessel (1) at (10). <IMAGE>
