Abstract

In a method and a device for identifying an object with one of a plurality of reference objects, an image B of the object is scanned in an optoelectric converter V and the scanning data is stored in a store BSp. The store BSp is scanned under the control of a scan control circuit DSt and the output is fed into a parameter generator K which produces parameters capable of distinguishing between different objects. The parameters may be, for example, the total image area, the radius of the largest circle centred on the of the image centroid passing through the image, the number of intersections of the image perimeter with the scanning lines and the ratio of the part lengths of the scanning lines lying within the image to the total part length. The parameters are compared with corresponding parameters of reference objects stored in stores RSp1... RSpn by means of a comparator C1 until identity between the parameters is found. <IMAGE>
