Abstract
The present invention relates to a desoldering tool including a handle 12, an elongate housing 14 extending from the handle and having a heating tip or bit 30 at one end thereof remote from the handle, the bit 30 and housing 14 defining a bore 42 terminating at a chamber 44 remote from the bit, and control vent means 70 intermediate the ends of the bore. The tool is adapted for connecting to a source of electric current for heating the bit 30 and to means for developing suction in the bore 42, whereby, when the bit is applied to a soldered termination and the solder thereof is melted, the solder will be sucked through the bit 30 and collected in the camber 43, said control vent means 70 being operably to increase suction at the inner end of the bit 30. A lining sleeve 46 (e.g. longitudinally slit) is removable, upon accumulation of solder therein, and may be such as to be easily cleaned or may be replaced by a fresh sleeve. <IMAGE>
