Abstract

The proposed cam assembly includes cams for vertical movement of knitting instruments 4 in grooves 6 of a needle bed 7 of a knitting machine, and at least one damping element 5 for contacting the tail 10 of each of the knitting instruments for making the latter stop at a predetermined level. The damping element 5 is made as a rigid plate, and is installed beneath the grooves of the needle bed, and a surface 13 thereof contacting the tail of the knitting instrument is inclined towards a lateral surface of the knitting instrument and arranged in a plane normal to the needle bed generatrix. This makes it possible to minimize lengthwise oscillations in the knitting instruments and thereby to prolong the service life thereof as well as to step up the speed of knitting machines. <IMAGE>
