Abstract

Metal working lubricants are described which include a water soluble metallic soap, an alkali metal chloride, an alkali metal sulphate and an alkali metal borate. The compositions may be used as dry powders or as aqueous solutions. They are clean and relatively fume free in use. The compositions may contain additional high temperature lubricants such as phosphates and low temperature lubricants such as mineral oils and silicones.
