Abstract

A setting additive for hydraulic cement for admixture in solid form or as a solution in, for example, water and comprising a major amount by weight of calcium formate and a minor amount by weight of sodium nitrite, in order to accelerate the setting rate of hydraulic cement without the attendant reaction products of substances corrosive to ferrous reinforcing elements cast in the cement.
