Abstract
A fluidized bed apparatus in which sticking of moist particles against the vessel wall is prevented, comprises a vessel 1 having a perforated bottom 5 which may be oscillated by piston 6. Arranged above the bottom 5 is a substantially horizontal rotor disc 8 rotatable about a vertical axis and possibly height adjustable. A turbine 11 generates air circulation in the apparatus. The apparatus is characterised in that the fluidized bed vessel 1 is upwardly tapered so that the fluidized particles circulate upwardly at the periphery of the bed and downwardly at the centre. The apparatus may be for mixing, drying reactions and granulation e.g. of sprayed material. <IMAGE>
