Abstract

Logs of timber are treated by surrounding one end with a pressure tight casing and filling this casing with a treatment liquid under pressure which then impregnates the log. The casing has two parts. A sleeve which fits over the end of the log, grips the log and is sealed there around, and a cap which engages over the sleeve and can be easily secured thereto with a pressure seal also being provided between the cap and the sleeve. A space is defined within the end of the cap around the end of the log. Suitable valves are provided for allowing entry of the treatment liquid and control of the pressure within the space. <IMAGE>
