Abstract

A hydrostatic propulsion drive having means for connecting and disconnecting additional driving wheels (30,31), comprises two hydraulic motors (14,15), continuously connected by way of two main ducts (7,8) to a variable displacement pump (1) for respectively driving two first driving wheels (18,19), and two further hydraulic motors (20,21) connectable to and disconnectable from said pump for driving two additional driving wheels (30,31) by way of respective clutches (22,23). A switch-on valve (26) is provided for connecting the further hydraulic motors (20,21) to the pump (1) through the main ducts (7,8) by way of a switch-through valve (29) and for operating the clutches (22,23). The clutches (22,23) are arranged to separate the further hydraulic motors (20,21) from the respective driving wheels (30,31) when the connection of such motors (20,21) to the main ducts (7,8) is interrupted. <IMAGE>
