Abstract

Cellulose-containing material may be fire-proofed by treatment with a preparation comprising: an alkali metal and/or ammonium borate, and/or ammonia and boric acid, and an alkali metal, preferably sodium, and/or ammonium tripolyphosphate and, optionally, hydrogen phosphate, or separately with the components thereof in any combination. In a preferred aspect an aqueous solution containing from 5 to 35% by weight of the active components is impregnated in a cellulose-containing board to provide it with excellent fireproofing properties.
