Abstract

An emergency exit door for vehicles comprises an outer panel (1) and an overlying inner panel (2) hingedly connected along their adjacent upper edges at (3). The outer panel is hingedly connected along its lower transverse edge for outwards pivotal movement relative to the vehicle body under the control of primary control means (9). The inner panel is manually unfolded relative to the outer panel under the control of secondary control means to a position in which the outer and inner panels are contiguous to define an exit ramp down which passengers can leave the vehicle. The door incorporates a handrail system which is erected during unfolding movement of the inner panel. The handrail system may extend along on both sides of the ramp when erected. <IMAGE>
