Abstract
Predominantly unmodified starch containing mix having a superior water-binding capacity which is suitable for preparing a corrugating adhesive having an improved stability and stable viscosity during repeated heating-cooling cycles at temperatures between 10 and 50 DEG C, and under mechanical stress when compared to an adhesive prepared in the same manner from an ordinary unmodified starch, characterized in that, that the mix contains 0 to 90 per cent by weight of an ordinary unmodified starch and 100 to 10 per cent by weight of a composition containing predominantly wheat starch with a granule diameter of, mostly, less than 10 mu m and predominantly 2 to 6 mu m, and which composition in addition to starch contains 1 to 8 per cent by weight wheat pentosans and 1 to 10 per cent by weight of wheat proteins calculated on dry basis. Preferably the starch contained therein is in the form of ungelatinized granules.
