Abstract

198,751. Barman, L. M., and Roneo, Ltd. March 4, 1922. Addressing and like machines.-In addressing or like printing-machines of the type in which stencil cards are positioned for printing between a segmental inking-roller and a segmental impression-roller, the rollers are adapted to be disengaged at the will of the operator to form a skipping device for cards not required to be used. Stencil cards B in a hopper A are fed forward between a segmental inking-roller E and a similarly formed impression-roller F by a reciprocating pusher D. The roller F is mounted on a spindle N carried by arms P pivotally mounted on a cross-bar Q, one arm being extended and terminating in a fork S within which works a cam T fixed on a spindle U provided with an external lever V. The cam T bears against an adjustable screw W such that when the lever V is in the position shown in Fig. 3, the roller F is pressed against the roller E, and when it is turned to that shown in Fig. 1, owing to a card being advanced for which no impression is required, the roller F drops by gravity out of engagement. A stop Z by contacting the screw W limits the rotation of the cam. The roller E is fixed on a shaft K, rotatable by means of a crank L, from which are driven by gears M, 0, X the roller F and also a crank and connecting rod for operating the pusher D. Inking of the roller E is effected from a supply J by rollers G.
