Abstract

198,632. Baron, H., (Aldendorff, F.). Feb. 28, 1922. Addition to 188,689. Drawings to Specification. Automatic exchange systems and apparatus; metering.-Relates to 'automatic exchange systems as described in the parent Specification in which a group marking switch first steers the wipers of a uni-motional connector on to a particular group of lines, the wipers being advanced while the group marking switch is receiving numerical impulses, and a line marking switch then causes the wipers to move to a wanted line in this group. According to the present invention, both marking switches are permanently associated with the connector. On the connector wipers engaging a wanted line, the line marking switch is restored, the ringing relay being continuously energized during its restoring moveits arms. The wanted subscriber thus receives a continuous preliminary ringing current which, however, is replaced by the usual intermittent ringing current when the line marking switch arrives at its normal position. Release of the connector is controlled by the group-marking switch which on the calling party hanging up moves to a sub-normal position in which potential is applied to all the group marking contacts of the connector, causing it to move to normal, after which the group marking switch is advanced a further step to its true normal position. The system described is identical with that described in Specification 195,439, in which the above operations are described in detail and in which other features are claimed. Specification 196,990 also is referred to.
