Abstract

198,610. Munro, H. Oct. 11, 1922. Stilts.-A stilt is provided with a foot or base 10, Fig. 1, that is extended sideways in order to overcome the tendency of the pole to twist. A handle 8 or 8<a>, Fig. 3, may be attached to the pole to prevent twisting, or the pole may have one side grooved or be of such a section that the user can tell by feeling whether the stilt is in the correct position. The footrest 2 has a, raised portion 12 or a ridge in front of the heel to prevent the foot from slipping forwards, and it may be attached to the pole by a clamp 13, Fig. 1, in order that the height may be adjusted. The pole mav be inclined outwards from the base, as shown in Fig. 1, in order that it may not lie too close to the body of the user. The base may be extended at right-angles to the extension 10, or it may consist of a plate.
