Boots and shoes, measuring for.-A foot sup. porting platform has independently movable inclined side gauging members connected with a width size indicating pointer so that width sizes for feet of different lengths are correctly indicated. Indicated sizes are printed on a paper strip. The heel is placed against a stop a<12>, Fig. 3, and the length is measured by a stop b carrying an indicator b<1>, Fig. 5, on its underside marked W.M.N. (wide, medium or narrow) to abut against a scale for printing purposes. The width is taken by side pieces c, d which incline outwards to vary the width for different lengths and are connected by a spring g. The parts c, d slide underneath the main frame by means of lugs engaging a cross rod e, and are further connected by a toggle (not shown) one end of which is a continuation of the indicator arm i<1>. A handle i<2> serves to open the side pieces and the size is recorded on a scale d<2> and an indicator i<4> is also arranged for a permanent print to be taken against the underside scale d<6>. A strip of paper o<1>, Fig. 1, is pressed upwards with an inked ribbon r by a toggle-worked plate p<12> against the indicators b<1>, i<4>, Fig. 3, and the scales before mentioned. The position of the indicators and the entire scale are printed on the paper, which is unrolled from a roll o, and torn off against a wire o<2>. The plate or table p<12> is operated by a handle p<13>. The inked ribbon is fed forward as the table p<12> is moved by a horizontal ratchet (not shown) attached to the table at p'‹ and operating the roller m<2>.
