Electric stoves; resistance ovens.-In an electric heating apparatus of the kind adapted for use either as a radiator or as a heater for cooking and like purposes, a number of heating- elements 6 are supported in spaced relation from a casing 1, Figs. 2 and 3, and a reflector 18 is arranged for use either in front of or behind the elements, the latter position being adopted when, as shown in Fig. 2, the apparatus is used as a radiator so that the air is heated by convection currents and also both by direct and reflected radiation. The casing is preferably wedge-shaped so as to form a wide supporting-base 2 and is provided with folding legs 19 which can support the apparatus in a tilted position, Fig. 4, for cooking or grilling. The resistance elements consist of conducting strips 10 wound on flat cores and are mounted by means of clips 7 on conducting posts 5 carried by but insulated from the casing 1. The posts 5 are protected on each side by plates 13, 14, of which the plates 13 are fitted with channels 17 for receiving the reflector 18 when heat is to be reflected away from the casing 1, while the plates 14 support fire-bars 16 on which the reflector 18 may rest when heat is to be reflected downwards for toasting or grilling. When the apparatus is tilted on to the legs 19 it may be arranged to support a double-walled oven, of which the outer walls 20, Fig. 4, rest on the casing 1 while the inner walls 22 have narrow depending plates 21 embracing the plates 14.
