Abstract

197,143. Davies, T. J. June 30, 1922. Lawns and the like, removing rubbish from.- A machine for picking up stones in meadows &c. comprises a wheeled frame carrying a receptacle, a rotary tine-drum for delivering the stones into the receptacle, and clutch-actuated means for tipping the receptacle. The machine may be provided with draught shafts 12 or may be driven mechanically. The tine-drum shaft 18 is adjustably mounted on brackets 13 depending from the frame 10, and is driven by chain gearing and a clutch from one of the wheels 11. The curved tines or rods 19 are made of spring steel and are arranged in four straight or spiral lines. They may be bolted to iron bands passing round a wooden drum 20. The receptacle is made by fastening strips 33 of wood or metal to a number of resilient C-shaped brackets 28 secured on the axle 9. The brackets carry curved raking tines or forks 32 which may be made by splitting a strip of metal. The receptacle is closed at the ends and may be tipped by throwing the axle 9 into gear with one of the wheels 11 by means of a clutch.
