Abstract

196,626. Latour, M. April 22, 1922, [Convention date]. Repeating systems for telephones. A trunk line comprises two pairs of wires, each pair including one or more one-way repeaters R<1>, R<2>, and the subscribers' lines being connected to the pairs alternately by means of commutators C<1>, C<2>. The commutators may comprise two pairs of triode tubes in parallel, the anodes of which are supplied with alternating current, of frequency for example 2000, from a supply transformer 6, 6<1> so that the two pairs have voltages of opposite sign at any instant, one pair of tubes 3, 4 being connected so as to transmit from the subscriber's line A to one trunk pair L, and the other pair 3<1>, 4<1> being connected oppositely to transmit from the second trunk pair L' to the subscriber's line A. The feeding current frequency may be reduced by connecting the supply transformers to the filament battery. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the apparatus may be used as a two-way repeater in a twowire trunk line by uniting the two pairs L, L<1>. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
