Abstract

196,423. Lloyd, B. Nov. 9, 1922. Trap-nests.-The slidable door 1 is movable in a frame composed of two vertical members 2 and a transverse member 3, and is normally held in a raised position by a catch 4. The upper extremities 5 of the catch are pivoted in eyes on the back of the transverse member 3 and its central portion 6 extends forward in a horizontal direction below the transverse member and the lower edge of the door 1, being curved upwardly at its end. The door is released by the fowl engaging a hanger 7, comprising two downwardly extending wire limbs that are pivoted on the catch 4 and have an upwardly extending part 8 of inverted U-shape. As the fowl presses back the hanger the part 8 engages the transverse member 3 causing the catch 4 to move on its pivots, thus freeing the door. A hinged catch 10 may be provided to retain the door in its raised position. The door is formed with apertures 9 that act as air vents and also facilitate its opening. The frame 2 may be hingedly connected to an outer fixed frame.
