Abstract

194,988. Spencer, H. B., and Lawn, E. C. May 30, 1922. Track apparatus actuating signals on trains and for stopping trains.-The brakepipe is provided with an extension-pipe G, Fig. 1, the end of which is closed by a glass diaphragm which is broken by the explosion of a detonator H on the rails. The diaphragm 22, Fig. 7, is held between rubber &c. washers 23, 24 under a flanged cap 19. A metal washer 25 prevents damage to the rubber ones when the cap 19 is screwed in place. A valve E isolates the pipe G after breakage of the diaphragm, a gauge D reminding the driver that the apparatus has operated.
