Abstract
194,879. Alexander, P. S. H., and British Pens, Ltd., Feb. 1, 1922. Pens; reservoir nibs.-A pen-nib, suitable for use in decorative writing, sign writing, eastern script, &c. comprises a flat nib, pierced and slit as usual, and a lever spring reservoir adapted to bear on the upper side of the nib near tl:e point. The nib, Fig. 1, is formed from a flat shouldered blank having two side wings 2 which are bent slightly so that the upper side of the nib is slightly convex. The reservoir attachment, Fig. 4, which is provided with a shank 9 for insertion into an ordinary holder and with bentover ears 6 for the reception of the shank 7 of the nib, has a semi-tubular extension 8 to serve as a reservoir for ink and as a support to resiliently resist bending of the nib, and is arranged to flex at a point above that at which the nib is suported by the ears 6. As shown in Fig. 9, the reservoir attachment 8 is formed as an independent unit for insertion into an ordinary holder 11 in which it is secured by an inturned lug 13 engaging a slot in the attachment, ears 6 being provided on the holder for the reception of the nib. If desired, the attachment may be formed integral with the holder, or, 'as shown in Fig. 15, the reservoir may be formed by a stamped-out portion of the shank 7 bent over to contact with the upper side of the nib.
