Abstract

194,058. Norgate, R. S. G. Jan. 10, 1922. Turning-gear.- In order to prevent damage if the engine starts backwards, the clutch member C is secured to the shaft K of the starting-handle by a tapered pin S having grooves G at which the pin breaks readily, and the shaft K has a squared portion engaging a ratchet wheel rotatable in one direction only. The ratchet wheel and pawls are enclosed in a box bolted to the chassis. A set screw F may he used temporarily when the pin S is broken.
