Abstract

192,578. Gale, C. H. Jan. 9, 1922. Helical springs. - The groove d of an abutment in which a helical tension spring a engages is formed with a pitch which is less than that of the unstrained spring, or, in the case of a compression spring, is greater than that of the unstrained spring. The spring may be notched at g and engaged by a portion h of the abutment plug punched into the notch. The abutment may alternatively be in the form of a collar with an internal groove.
