Abstract

16,652. Preston, D. Y. Nov. 25. Clamping-devices.-A device for filing papers comprises a false base 3 hinged to the true base 1, and a spring-actuated pivoted clamping-jaw 7 operated by pressure upon the part 3 and having its pivot arranged in or above the plane of the false base and between the point at which the false base is connected to the jaw and the point at which the false base meets the jaw to clamp the papers. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the jaw 7, pivoted at 10, is connected by the link 4 to the part 3, while in Fig. 4 a bar 17 carrying a roller 18 replaces the pivot 10. Filing pins or posts may be provided, fixed to the true base 1 and extending upward through the parts 3, 7. The device is applicable to music stands.
