Nov. 25 Theatrical appliances.-A stage appliance, for use in producing the illusion of a performer floating in space above the heads of the audience, consists of a movable trestle B ou which is universally pivoted a balanced beam F carrying an enclosed seat E for the performer and provided with operating-handles L. The trestle is mounted on castors and may be drawn back from the front of the stage by means of a windlass D. The performer is illuminated by electric lights, but the remainder of the front is in darkness, the means of support being thus rendered invisible. A gauze curtain N hides the trestle and its operator.
