Abstract

15,143. Simonsen, P. Nov. 17, 1914, [Convention date.] Pressing-dies ; moulding screw-threads.-A pressure screw die for moulding insulators &c. is constructed so that it may be readily taken to pieces, and one die is worked from another ; it has also an automatic stop-motion to prevent binding. The intermediate die portion 8 is operated at the end of both the up and down motions of the inner screw die 5 by means of collars or shoulders 13, 15 on the central portion of the screw die engaging lateral projections on the rods 10, to which the intermediate die is secured. The outer die 9 is secured to the die-carrier 7, which is carried in a cross-bead 3. The screw die is fed in and out through the nut portion 4, and is rotated through a splined connexion from a barrel portion 19, on which is cut a coarse thread to engage a sliding bar 24. The barrel also carries disks 20, 22 having projecting pins, which contact with the bar 24 at each end of the movement of the screw die and thus prevent binding.
