Abstract

14,987. Nilen, F. M. Oct. 23. [Cognate Application, 18074/15.] Money - delivering apparatus. - A moneydelivering apparatus is designed to deliver change corresponding in value to that of a note deposited, separate but similar mechanism being provided for dealing with notes of different values. A note is passed into the apparatus through a slot 10, Fig. 2, and is received between a fixed glass plate and a rubber band 4 passing around rollers 1, 2, the former of which can be rotated until the note has been placed out of reach of the operator, but is still visible through a window 9. When the note is in this position, further movement of the band 4 is impossible until the change slide 27, which has been opened by mechanism also operated by the rotation of the roller 1 while the note was passing to position under the window, is closed by hand. Upon the insertion of another note and the further operation of the rollers, the first note is passed into the locked drawer 12. The mechanism for unlocking and opening the slide 27 comprises a pivoted lever 18 which is rocked by the movement of a slide bar 16, the front end of which is bent up as shown to extend into the path of an arm 15 mounted on the axle of the roller 1. The upper end of the lever 18 extends into a slot in the slide 27 and is provided with a cam-surface 21, which acts upon a pin 22 projecting from the drawer-locking lever 23. During the opening of the drawer, a weighted toothed lever 20 is acted on by the bent-up end of the bar 16 and is forced into the position shown in Fig. 3, in which it locks the roller arm 15. On closing the drawer, the lever 20 falls back into the position shown in Fig. 2, and the roller 1 can again be rotated. The change slide 27 consists of a flat plate 29, Fig. 4, having a front upstanding end 30 and two upstanding ribs 31. The change is contained in receptacles 33, a series of which is mounted in a vertical guide 32. The roller 2 may be geared to the roller 1, or a train of rollers may be employed, arranged closely together and geared together by intermediate toothed wheels. The rollers may be fluted or grooved longitudinally, and the band 4 dispensed with. Counting - mechanism may be connected to the rollers.
